SchoolEducation

Jackson County is very proud of its educational system with its high academic standards and competitive athletic program.  The Jackson County High School girls basketball program boasts a three time victory as AA state champions. The nearby State Vocational-Technical School provides training programs for medical, business, and industrial positions.  Tennessee Technological University is only 18 miles from Gainesboro.

 

Health Care

Jackson County resident's health care needs are served by the Jackson County Ambulance service through 911 as well as a few medical clinics and the Jackson County Health Department.  The health department administers an immunization program for area residents.  And, the Maybary Health Care & Rehabilitation provides care for the elderly.

 

Recreation

In addition to the abundant natural scenic beauty, Jackson County has several excellent family recreational areas.  Gainesboro offers a very challenging nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, and a clubhouse.

During the summer, Jackson County has baseball and softball leagues for youth as well as soccer and bowling leagues during the year.  For the hunting enthusiast, Jackson County's vast countryside offers a wild variety of wild game: ducks, quail, dove, rabbit, squirrel, deer, and turkey.  The county's numerous rivers, lakes, and streams make it truely a "Fisherman's Paradise."

Jackson County is rich with tradition, which is recognizable by the many hand-made articles that are available and the authentic crafts which are still practiced throughout the area.
